Illinois State University has high-speed WiFi available throughout campus. While you're in between classes you can update your Facebook status, chat with friends, work in the Chemistry Resource room (located in Julian Hall), or go to the computer lab next door to type up lab results. There is always something to do on campus, and we encourage you to get involved!
Get Involved with the Department
Chem Club is a great way to get involved in the department, community, and university, and to meet new chemistry majors outside of class. Chem Club usually meets every other week, and was recognized as an ACS Outstanding Student Affiliate Chapter multiple times in past years. The club participates in several events such as the local ACS Section Research Symposium, Homecoming, and National Chemistry week. Chem Club frequently hosts career planning workshops, lunches, cookouts, softball games, and other social and outreach activities.
In your first couple of years at ISU, we strongly encourage you to consider conducting undergraduate research. Research is an opportunity to have personal interactions with graduate students and faculty, enhance your personal and professional communication skills, and make you more competitive when looking for a job or applying for graduate school.
