Whether you are a prospective student, a current student, an alumna/alumnus, or "just visiting", I hope you find useful information on these pages.

Prospective Students

At Illinois State, you will have an experience unlike almost any other chemistry department in the country. Our program combines the best of facilities and resources of a large research university with the personal, supportive environment of a small liberal arts college or university. The faculty is made up of individuals that could be successful at large research universities, but have a love of both teaching and research. Three of the past six years a chemistry professor has been named the Outstanding University Teacher.

Our aim is to provide the best possible preparation for a professional career in chemistry, biochemistry, or chemical education. As you likely know, our majors are not the easiest of majors! This website is here to help you find support for you in your studies. Please visit when you need to set up a meeting with a professor or explore research options. Time marches on, and we tend to lose contact with each other. Reconnect! Let us know your current contact information. We have a presence on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Also, take a few minutes to look around the web site to see how things have changed since you graduated. There are new facilities and many new faculty members. PLEASE send me a quick note and let me know where you are and what you are doing. Those of you who know me know that I truly love chatting with you about life beyond ISU. With your permission, we might share your story with our students--your accomplishments and career paths can serve as sources of inspiration and motivation to current students. We also would welcome a visit back to campus to talk about your experiences with our current students.
