We are pleased to offer a series of graduate level courses that will take your chemistry teaching to a higher level. In these courses, you will learn novel demonstrations, laboratory experiments, and teaching activities along with the fundamental concepts upon which these activities are based. You will also learn how to improve the activities you already know. Award-winning teachers will provide examples for how you can use these demonstrations to improve your delivery of important topics in chemistry from the most basic to most complex. Furthermore, you will learn from the most recent research in chemical education and apply that knowledge to your teaching.
In-state, out-of-state, it doesn't matter! No matter where you live, Illinois State University charges a per-credit hour fee for these online courses. The current cost breakdown for the 2021-2022 school year is:

These courses consist of a combination of assessments covering the Flinn videos and articles provided within the course. Discussions, peer review, and reflection papers are also an important part of our courses. Note that while there is not a designated time at which you MUST be logged in to the course, you still are responsible for completing assignments by their deadlines for each semester. These courses also count towards the Chemistry Education/Science Education requirements for the Master of Chemistry Education (MCE) and Master of Science in Chemistry Education (MSCE) degrees.
